Network Security Engineer Jobs in British Columbia

A Network Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining computer and information security systems. They play an essential role in ensuring the safety and integrity of a company's data, detecting and mitigating network threats, and implementing security protocols. These professionals also conduct system checks for security vulnerabilities, develop security standards, and recommend security enhancements. They also respond to any network security incidents and provide a thorough post-event analysis.

Network Security Engineers should possess strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills. They should be well-versed in various networking languages, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other security technologies. Important certifications include Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Security. Before becoming a Network Security Engineer, an individual may work as a Network Administrator, Systems Administrator, or a Junior Network Engineer.
