Job Title: Senior AWS Cloud Engineer

Location: Remote (client based in New York, must be on EST or CST)
Duration: 6 months – long term renewing contract
Interview Process: 2 rounds

Overview : This role will partner closely with internal engineering teams to design, implement, and optimize scalable, resilient, and automated infrastructure solutions. The consultant will bring deep expertise in AWS cloud services, automation, Unix/Linux systems, storage, backup, and enterprise resiliency (HA/DR) to help modernize infrastructure and improve operational reliability. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on architecture guidance, implementation, and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and optimize AWS-based infrastructure solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Develop and maintain automation frameworks using Ansible and other infrastructure-as-code approaches.
• Provide senior-level expertise in Unix/Linux systems engineering, performance tuning, and operational best practices.
• Design and improve enterprise backup, storage, and data protection strategies.
• Architect and implement High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Identify opportunities for infrastructure automation, operational efficiency, and reliability improvements.
• Support infrastructure modernization efforts including cloud adoption, resiliency engineering, and operational automation.
• Partner with internal engineering teams to review architecture, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, and guide implementation.
• Document architecture designs, operational procedures, and automation workflows.
• Provide mentorship and technical leadership to internal engineering teams when needed.

AWS Core Services - Organizations, compute, storage, replication
- General AWS infra patterns / architecture
- Compute: EC2 instances, Lambda, RDS
- Storage: EBS, S3, EFS, Glacier
- Networking: VPCs, transit gateways, ALBs, NLB
- EKS is a plus (used more on ecomm/digital)

Job Requirements:
*6-8 years + across cloud and systems engineering
*Extensive experience with AWS and traditional infrastructure (Unix, storage, etc); understands how things work under the hood and integrates with other technology/teams
*Understand infrastructure design/solid OS-level understanding – can trouble shoot storage, networking etc.
*AWS expertise – past experience creating AWS environments, migrating to AWS: setting up AWS best practices etc
*Experience with AWS core services – organizations, compute, storage, replication, AWS networking (VPCs transit gateways, app load balancers, network load balancers)
