AWS Global Services includes experts from across AWS who help our customers design, build, operate, and secure their cloud environments. Customers innovate with AWS Professional Services, upskill with AWS Training and Certification, optimize with AWS Support and Managed Services, and meet objectives with AWS Security Assurance Services. Our expertise and emerging technologies include AWS Partners, AWS Sovereign Cloud, AWS International Product, and the Generative AI Innovation Center. Youll join a diverse team of technical experts in dozens of countries who help customers achieve more with the AWS cloud.

Key job responsibilities
As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to grow and make impact by defining the system architecture, owning and implementing specific components, and shaping the overall experience. Together we build highly available, secure, scalable, distributed and event-driven systems. You will have flexibility to drive changes to our front-end, backend. infrastructure, and GenAI implementations, and be able to work with different skillset including big data and engineering to build new features. Youll be involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from research to ideation, and you will invent the next innovation working collaboratively with leaders across Global Services Security to bring them to life.

GSS Engineering has several teams distributed across key development centers primarily within the US, but also globally. The team is driving AWS's new security growth initiatives. Our vision is to secure the world's workloads and create a brighter future for humanity. We work with customers and partners to develop security solutions that enable our service teams to deliver the right products and features. By harnessing security-relevant data, we gain insights and automate actions to mitigate customer security concerns proactively, ideally without requiring any action on their part. Our teams are responsible for full-stack implementation and integration of new security services, which power secure outcomes for AWS customers.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will own and contribute to planning, architecture design, implementation, testing, and process improvement, while utilizing your full range of technical, research, customer and software development skills. You will drive critical business initiatives designing and building the operational scalability that sustains the platform's growth. The ideal candidate has thrived and succeeded in collaborating and communicating with stakeholders and partners in highly visible projects, delivering high quality software solutions in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift fast.

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

- 7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
