The Infrastructure Architect position is to ensures that systems and infrastructure patterns, principles, frameworks, and standards are designed and implemented to support Scotiabanks business requirements. This role is part of the GTEP Architecture team in Canada.

Candidate will work in a teamwork environment within GTEP Architecture and Enterprise Architecture to performs efficient and effective operations in their respective areas, while ensuring compliance and effectiveness of daily business controls in order to comply with obligations aimed at reducing operational risk, the risk of regulatory noncompliance, the risk of money laundering and financing of terrorism and conduct risk, which include the responsibilities established under the Operational Risk Management Framework, the Risk Management Framework for Regulatory Compliance, the International Manual Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Is this role right for you?
Lead discussions with Scotiabanks application solution architects and security teams to define on-premise and cloud infrastructure strategies.
Participate in Architecture Review Boards (ARBs) to review, recommend, and propose infrastructure solutions.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, technology standards, and infrastructure designs. Collaborate with GTEP teams to ensure alignment with security and architectural standards.
Identify and analyze infrastructure architecture gaps. Propose new technologies, establish pilots and proof-of-value (POV) initiatives, and present recommendations to ARBs.
Collaborate with the GTEP Architectural Governance team to document and maintain infrastructure standards, patterns, principles, and frameworks.
Evaluate and engage with vendors to address operational challenges and assess new technologies for inclusion in GTEP product roadmaps.
Lead proof-of-concept (POC) projects and collaborate with engineering and operations teams to transition successful initiatives into production.
Act as the primary infrastructure contact for the Data Center Consolidation Project (DCRC).
Ensure compliance with operational risk, regulatory requirements, anti-money laundering (AML), and conduct risk frameworks.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
Fluent in English and Spanish (verbal, written, and presentation).
Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
7+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure architecture, including hybrid cloud and on-premise environments.
Proven ability to design scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
Strong understanding of infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational best practices.
5+ years of experience in enterprise database architecture, including relational (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and cloud-native databases (Azure SQL, Cloud Spanner, BigQuery).
Expertise in database high availability, disaster recovery, replication, and performance tuning.
Experience with database modernization, migration strategies, and cloud adoption.
5+ years of experience designing and implementing middleware platforms such as Red Hat JBOSS, WebLorgic, WebSphere, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar.
Deep knowledge of middleware integration patterns, service orchestration, and message queuing systems.
Experience with API gateways, service mesh, and container-based middleware deployments.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure and/or GCP public cloud infrastructure.
Experience with Kubernetes and microservices operational design.
Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware) and P2V/cloud migration strategies.
Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts (firewalls, load balancers, DNS, routing).
Familiarity with infrastructure security principles and compliance frameworks.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, SonarQube, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
