Step into the future of national defense technology with Leidos! We're searching for a driven Platform Engineer ready to take on high-stakes migration projects in the DAF CLOUDworks environment. Based in San Antonio, TX, this hybrid role offers flexibility, challenge, and the opportunity to leave your mark on mission-critical systems. You'll be part of complex migrations across AWS and Azure platformsexecuting discovery, planning, and implementation while championing cybersecurity and cloud modernization.
As a Platform Engineer, you will design, build, and support cloud-native infrastructure and platform services that enable mission systems across DAF CLOUDworks environments. You will work with Kubernetes-based architectures, AWS GovCloud and Azure environments, automation tools, and platform reliability features. You will collaborate with DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and development teams to deliver secure, scalable, and mission-aligned platforms for Department of Defense workloads.
What You'll Tackle:
Engineer, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes clusters and supporting services across AWS GovCloud and Azure environments.
Automate platform provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring using Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
Manage identity and access control, patching, logging, and backups across multi-tenant environments.
Troubleshoot platform and infrastructure issues and ensure high availability of critical workloads.
Collaborate with mission teams and platform users to understand needs and optimize cloud-native services.
Support compliance efforts (e.g., RMF, Zero Trust Architecture, IL5+ hardening) and integrate cybersecurity requirements into platform design.
Maintain system documentation, baselines, and operational runbooks.
Participate in Agile planning and sprint execution alongside cross-functional teams.
Performs other related duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Mission:
Clearance: Active TS/SCI on day 1.
Current IAT Level II certification
Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or Similar Discipline with at least 8 years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.Deep experience with AWS (GovCloud/SC2S), Kubernetes (EKS or self-managed), Linux, and CI/CD tools.
Proficient in one or more scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
Hands-on experience with Git/GitLab, container registries, and infrastructure monitoring tools.
Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices, IAM, networking, and platform lifecycle management.
Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills, with experience supporting mission-critical systems.
Strong understanding of cloud networking, load balancing, and DNS in cloud environments.
Ability to work a hybrid schedule, 2 days a week telework (subject to change due to mission requirements).
Bonus Credentials (Preferred):
Masters or other advanced degree in Information Technology or Similar Discipline
Experience with Air Force or DoD platform infrastructure environments (e.g., Platform One, Iron Bank, Big Bang).
Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and DevSecOps workflows.
Certifications in one or more of the following:
AWS Certified Solutions Architect
Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or similar certifications.
