Job Description
Responsible for network engineering support for the AN/SQQ 89A(V)15, including virtualizing and corrective maintenance actions on ASW Virtual Operator Trainers (VOT) throughout multiple Fleet Concentration Areas. Duties may also include providing specifications for network architecture, evaluating/recommending new upgrades to enhance current capabilities, and performing PEO IWS5 needs assessments. Support level duties may include daily system monitoring, in field VOT installations & testing, conducting technical refreshes, future system virtualization, troubleshooting & network repairs (distant and local).
Primary ResponsibilitiesAs a key member of the Training Systems Engineering Team (TSET), youll play a critical role in developing innovative hardware and software solutions in direct support of IWS5 customer training needs. Your responsibilities will include:
Designing, developing, documenting, and testing application software tailored for a diverse range of customer training systems
Leading configuration management (CM) efforts using modern tools and techniques, aligned with US Navy cybersecurity requirements
Collaborating closely with government customers to define and document system requirements, capabilities, and technical specifications
Supporting planning, management, and logistics activities related to full lifecycle system development
Operating effectively in secured, air-gapped environments with limited development infrastructure
Bachelors degree in a technical field and 4+ years of relevant experience, or Masters degree with 2+ years
Deep expertise virtualizing complex legacy hardware and networks using KVM/Libvirt and Open vSwitch
RHCE-level proficiency with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
Proficient in scripting and automation with Ansible , Python , and BASH
Experience developing within secure, offline environments using tools such as Podman , Git , and other repository tools
Proven ability to deliver impactful results independently, with minimal supervision
Familiarity with the development and lifecycle of technical documentation: Software Version Descriptions, System Design Docs, Interface Control Docs , etc. for DoD/USG customers
Comfortable reverse engineering and documenting functionality of legacy or undocumented products
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance upon hire
Valid (or obtainable) U.S. Passport
Hands-on experience with AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 (ACB-11/13/15/17/19 sensor suites)
Knowledge of AN/UYQ-100 Under Sea Warfare Decision Support System
Experience working in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 (RHEL 8) environments
