Job Description

Our Help Desk Technicians ensure proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.

This is a temporary, internship-style role based out of ForTec's home office in Hudson, OH, running from August through January-a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional setting.

  • Assesses and troubleshoots computer support problems and applies understanding of computer software and hardware products and services to to resolve problems for our users. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with desktop, laptop and peripheral devices.
  • Instructs end users in proper equipment usage and use of software programs.
  • Records, tracks, and documents the help desk problem solving process, including all successful decisions made and actions taken through to final resolution.
Qualifications
  • Experience supporting end users or working with computer systems.
  • Knowledge of basic computer hardware.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve basic computer and phone problems.
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 10, 11)
  • Experience and knowledge of mobile phone Operating Systems (Android, iOS)
  • Excited to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot error messages, apply patches or upgrades, and general support of Windows desktops and networks.
  • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly.
  • Helpful/patient attitude toward users.
  • Team player - willing to do what is needed to support the organization and its customers.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with an attention to detail.
  • Aggressive problem solving skills with follow up and follow through. 
  • Excellent communicator - face-to-face, on the phone, and via e-mail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong documentation skills.
