Job Description
Job Title: Senior Systems Software Engineer
Location: Onsite San Francisco, CA 94107
Duration: 6 Months (with potential for extension or conversion to permanent)
Schedule: Monday to Friday | 9:00 AM 6:00 PM | 40 hours/week
Pay Range: $111/hr. $114/hr. (W2)
Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer 5 to join their cutting-edge engineering team in San Francisco. This role focuses on building robust orchestration and data pipelines for real-time data capture from advanced sensor systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in both scripting and compiled languages, as well as experience in developing scalable data pipelines for mission-critical applications. Top 3 Must-Have Skills:
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash)
- Proficiency in at least one compiled/embedded language (C, C++, or equivalent)
- Experience with data pipeline development
- Design and implement real-time orchestration software to initiate, manage, and monitor data capture from sensor deployments
- Rapidly prototype orchestration and data pipelines for new and experimental sensors
- Develop data conversion/modification pipelines to standardize output for downstream use
- Write efficient, maintainable code in scripting and compiled languages
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate systems and validate data quality
- Ensure robust and scalable infrastructure for real-time data streaming and processing
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in systems or embedded software engineering
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent technical field
- Strong shell scripting skills
- Experience building and managing reliable data pipelines
- Deep understanding of software development best practices in real-time and embedded systems
- Familiarity with sensor ecosystems such as Opti Track, Manus, Stretch Sense, Rokoko, AR/VR headsets, and Zed cameras
- Experience with message queuing systems like RabbitMQ or Zero MQ
- Knowledge of distributed systems architecture
- Prior work with ROS/ROS2 (Robot Operating System)
- Real-time systems development experience in production environments
- Work on pioneering technology in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Contribute to the advancement of real-time data systems in emerging industries
- Collaborate with top-tier engineers and researchers across sensor, robotics, and AR/VR domains
