About the Team

Document Storage Service provides secure, resilient, and highly scalable persistence with simple, easy-to-use APIs. We use best-in-class database and object storage technologies to store and manage all customer documents for all of the Workday application requirements.

As an Engineer in our team, you will be responsible for developing core parts of the service, using our technology stack in a highly distributed environment. We use mainly Scala. This role requires a strong interest in distributed systems, concurrency, distributed storage technologies and system design.

About the Role

This role will support one or more direct or indirect contracts with the U.S. Federal Government which, due to federal government security requirements, mandates that all Workday personnel working on the contracts be United States citizens (naturalized or native).

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs distributed software programs for enhancements and new products across multiple disciplines and multiple platforms. Capable of designing and implementing software able to manage the tradeoffs between data consistency, availability, partition tolerance. Develop, design and deploy software and tools in support of a data processing system, including highly concurrent transaction processing, distributed memory management, communication protocols, and efficient distributed data algorithms.

About You

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience

• 4+ years of distributed systems engineering experience utilizing one or more of the following: Java, Scala, Python, Golang

Other Qualifications:

• Solid ability in Algorithmic Thinking, to design and implement efficient solutions

• Working knowledge public cloud of Storage API Development, and experience in S3 and/or GCS.

• Good understanding of Code Testing methodologies

• Good understanding of functional programming principles

• Working experience with Source Control Management (SCM) tools such as Git and branching strategies.

• Proven ability in Team Collaboration within a software development team

• Good skills in creating Technical Writing Documentation

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidates compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.
