Software Engineer

Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Design, develop and modify software systems. Determine system performance standards. Diagnose and analyze software defects and formulate effective resolution. Perform software requirement analysis, specifications writing, and unit testing. Monitor functioning of equipment to ensure system operates in conformance with clients' specifications. Analyze functional and business information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of new and modified software. Confer with systems architects, engineers, and programmers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Consult with engineers and programmers on status, proposals, and technical issues, including software system design and software maintenance. Coordinate installation of software systems. Evaluate costs and security needs to determine hardware configuration. Prepare reports concerning project specifications, activities, and status. Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and user documentation. Train users to use new and modified equipment.
