Position Summary
Parker Lord Electromechanical Systems (EMS) is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to develop and verify software for control systems used in demanding aerospace and industrial applications. This role focuses on motor control and signal processing technologies that incorporate digital and analog sensors, with responsibilities spanning architecture, requirements, implementation, verification, manufacturing, and support.
This position is in Cary, NC with up to 1-day per week of work from home.
Responsibilities
Our team designs and delivers industry-leading solutions for aerospace vibration control and torque measurement, as well as Off-Highway applications including steer-by-wire controllers and active damping systems. In this role, you will:
Translate system-level requirements into clear, testable software requirements aligned to architecture and process standards
Apply industry best practices to Implement embedded software inCfor microcontroller-based systems (manual andmodel-based workflows)
Manage concurrent project priorities and estimates to ensure the team delivers on schedule
Develop and execute software verification procedures and document results
Contribute to productivity improvements throughPythonandMATLABscripts for build, test, and analysis automation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to support technology development, qualification/certification, manufacturing readiness, and product launch
Contribute to organizational knowledge and mentor less experienced team members
Travel occasionally for vehicle integration activities and training
Qualifications
Required:
B.S.in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical fieldand 5 or more yearsof relevant experience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including writing, presentation, and status reporting for both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to interpretschematics, hardware/software interface specifications, and verification & validation plans
Working knowledge of digital communication and diagnostic protocols such asSAE J1939, UDS, RS-232/422, ARINC, SPI
U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident(required)
Preferred:
Technical leadership experience throughout an aerospace, industrial, automotive, or medical product lifecycle
Proficiency with lab tools and data acquisition (e.g.,oscilloscopes, function generators, ADC/DAC, JTAG)
Working experience withMATLAB/Simulink
Applied experience or coursework inControls Theoryand/orDigital Signal Processing (DSP)
Experience with MCUs such asTI C2000/HerculesorSTM32
Familiarity with safety and certification-oriented software development, such as: DO-178 / DO-331,IEC 61508-3, tool qualification guidance such asDO-330(or equivalent), functional safety standardsISO 13849, IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 26262, ARP4761
Familiarity with cybersecurity processes/standards such asDO-326, ISO 21434, or theEU Cyber Resilience Act
Understanding of the interface and integration of software into electronics manufacturing
