As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Equities Risk Technology team, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.
Job responsibilities
- Leads multiple technology implementations across workstreams to achieve technology and business objectives
- Directly manages multiple areas with strategic transactional focus and accelerating delivery
- Provides leadership and direction to teams while frequently overseeing multiple platforms at a high-level and in detail
- Acts as the interface with stakeholders and partners, driving consensus across competing objectives
- Manages multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations
Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Deep expertise in Java with multi-threaded, high-performance backend development at scale.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and grow multiple engineering teams, setting technical direction, driving architectural standards and developing senior engineers and managers.
- Demonstrated track record architecting and delivering complex, large-scale distributed systems, including ownership of end-to-end design, algorithms and workflows.
Proven experience designing and delivering distributed applications, event-driven systems and real-time processing pipelines at enterprise scale.
- Ability to partner with senior business stakeholders, product and technology leadership to shape strategy, roadmaps and investment decisions.
- Strong track record of organizational influence, including cross-functional leadership, vendor/partner management and driving change at scale.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skill
Financial markets background, ideally equity trading, market microstructure or front-office trading systems or Financial/Banking experience
