About the Role
We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Senior Logical Data Modeler & Technical Business Analyst to be the primary bridge between our business stakeholders and technical data teams. In this high-impact role, you will lead complex data integration efforts untangling legacy systems, architecting unified enterprise data models, and translating business complexity into clear technical specifications that drive transformation.
This role plays a critical part in our strategic platform modernisation programme, working across cash management, settlement operations, and client onboarding domains in a hybrid environment.
What You'll Do:
Business Alignment & Stakeholder Engagement: Lead intensive workshops and interviews with business and technical SMEs to surface hidden business rules, definitions, and operational nuances buried in legacy code.
- Facilitate the creation of a standardised Business Glossary, ensuring consistent terminology across departments and legacy data sources.
- Develop and deliver clear presentations to internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Identify, document, communicate, and help mitigate project risks; escalate as appropriate.
- Aid planning cycles to develop business and technology roadmaps.
Data Modelling & Technical Execution:
- Architect a single, consolidated Logical Data Model (LDM) that eliminates redundancy across multiple legacy systems and delivers a single version of truth.
- Perform functional gap analysis identify where legacy data fails to meet modern business needs and design the necessary bridges to future-state capabilities.
- Build and iterate on complex ER Diagrams and Subject Area Models representing the unified business view.
- Document full data lineage and transformation logic required to migrate data from legacy sources into the new unified target architecture.
- Use SQL to directly query legacy systems, profile data, and validate that the proposed unified model can realistically support existing data.
- Contribute to enterprise data governance processes and procedures.
- Work closely with technical teams to ensure adherence to functional and logical data model design requirements during implementation.
Change Management & Documentation:
- Act as a technical advocate for the new model, guiding business users through the transition from legacy mental models to the new enterprise structure.
- Analyse current-state applications and document future/end-state functional requirements for incorporation into the enterprise data model.
- Provide cross-functional coverage and perform additional responsibilities as the role evolves.
What We're Looking For:
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in financial services, including hands-on exposure to cash management, settlement functions, and client onboarding.
- Proven track record leading at least one major project that consolidated multiple legacy systems into a unified enterprise data model.
- Expert-level skill in logical data modelling for complex business applications.
- Advanced SQL skills for data profiling, investigation, and validation.
- Mastery of enterprise modelling tools (e.g. ER/Studio, erwin, or similar).
- Solid understanding of SDLC methodologies waterfall, agile, and lean.
- Experience with enterprise data governance frameworks and processes.
- Outstanding communication skills able to tell a compelling story for non-technical audiences while maintaining full credibility with engineers.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
- Comfortable and effective working in remote/hybrid environments.
- Fluent written and verbal English.
Preferred
- Experience with Atlassian tools: Confluence and Jira.
- Background in enterprise data architecture alongside business analysis.
- Familiarity with data migration and integration patterns.
