The Work
Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking a full-time Early Career Software Engineer. You will participate in design, development, integration, and testing of new capabilities for several Department of Defense (DoD) products and technologies. You will use and contribute to models of real-world weapons, radars, Command & Control systems. You will independently identify and address system and software defects, demonstrate an ability to practice sound systems and software engineering discipline, and decompose complex problems to formulate solutions.
In this role, you will design, modify, develop and integrate software for target modeling and simulation systems using agile methods. You will perform code reviews, optimize algorithms, and conduct experiments to ensure the functionality and performance of the developed products meets the requirements.
The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of software development using languages like C++, Java and Python. You will have familiarity with software design patterns, how to debug software and be familiar with continuous integration and continuous development (CI/CD)processes.
This position will require a government security clearance and is located at a facility that requires special access.

Demonstrated knowledge of C++, Python and/or Java programming languages
Demonstrated knowledge of Linux commands
Demonstrated knowledge of software design and testing experience
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the SECRET level US citizenship required Demonstrated knowledge of Agile Development Process and Atlassian tool suite or equivalent
Demonstrated knowledge of Software design, testing and debugging experience
Demonstrated knowledge of Software life-cycle development and Software configuration management using tools like Git
Demonstrated knowledge of Object-Oriented Design and Principles
