Location: Portsmouth, NH (Hybrid)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using C++ in UNIX/AIX environments
• Work with embedded SQL in C/C++ to interact with databases efficiently
• Design and execute queries on Sybase ASE and SQL Server databases
• Configure and troubleshoot database connectivity using ODBC, FreeTDS, and unixODBC
• Write and maintain Unix shell scripts (ksh/bash) for automation and batch processing
• Implement and support Open RP / Rating Plan / policy-based calculation logic
• Analyze, debug, and refactor legacy code to improve performance and maintainability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system stability and enhancements

Required Qualifications:

• Strong hands-on experience in C++ programming
• Proven expertise working with ODBC connectivity frameworks
• Experience with embedded SQL in C/C++ applications
• Solid understanding of Sybase ASE and SQL Server databases
• Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting (ksh/bash)
• Familiarity with FreeTDS and unixODBC configuration and troubleshooting
• Ability to analyze and modernize legacy systems/codebases
• Knowledge of Open Rating Platform / policy-based calculation systems (preferred).

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $60,000- $93,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
