Senior Data Scientist (2-Year Temp Position with Potential for Permanent Hire)- Metropolitan Council

The Senior Data Scientist will support the Research Departments mission to provide timely, relevant, and accessible data about the Twin Cities region through two key initiatives: modernizing Community Profiles, an interactive public-facing application, and developing the Imagine 2050 Outcomes Measurement Dashboard, a regional trend monitoring platform. These projects will create innovative digital research products informed by user experience (UX) research and data visualization best practices.

This role will lead data transformations, statistical analyses, and modeling using diverse data sources, including time-series and spatial data. The Senior Data Scientist will collaborate with technical and business partners to translate complex data into actionable insights and interactive tools. The ideal candidate will have experience with cloud-based analytics platforms, particularly Azure Databricks, along with knowledge of data modeling and experience working with data engineering teams to develop web-based applications, dashboards, and other data-driven products.
