Job Description This role focuses on integrating and validating real-time embedded software within complex combat vehicle systems. You will work across the software development lifecycle to integrate hardware and software components, execute verification and validation activities, and ensure system-level functionality, performance, and quality. The position involves working in Linux environments, developing and running software tests, supporting cybersecurity compliance, and collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver robust, high-quality solutions aligned with customer requirements. Responsibilities
- Integrate real-time embedded software with hardware components for combat vehicle platforms and ensure seamless system-level functionality.
- Plan, develop, and execute software integration and test activities across the software development lifecycle, from development through verification and validation.
- Work within Linux-based environments, with a focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, to configure, build, deploy, and test software components.
- Develop, maintain, and run manual and automated software tests to verify system performance, reliability, and compliance with requirements.
- Support the development and maintenance of integration and testbeds used for hardware and software integration and system validation.
- Apply strong programming and scripting skills in C++, Python, and Bash to create test scripts, automation tools, and integration utilities.
- Configure and troubleshoot networking components, including switches, VLANs, CAN, and Ethernet, to support system integration and communication.
- Use configuration management and issue tracking tools such as Git, Jira, and GitLab to manage code, track defects, and support collaborative development.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve integration and test issues, working closely with mechanical, electrical, controls, and systems engineers.
- Support cybersecurity-related testing and compliance activities, including security scanning, hardening, and validation as required.
- Contribute to documentation of integration procedures, test plans, test results, and system configurations to ensure traceability and repeatability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align integration and test activities with system requirements and design intent.
- Participate in continuous improvement of integration, verification, and validation processes to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Hands-on experience with software integration and testing for real-time embedded systems.
- Proficiency working in Linux-based environments, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Strong programming and scripting skills in C++, Python, and Bash.
- Experience with software verification, including both manual and automated testing.
- Experience with hardware and software integration and testbed development.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including switches, VLANs, CAN, and Ethernet.
- Proficiency with configuration management and issue tracking tools such as Git, Jira, and GitLab.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex embedded and networked systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and documentation.
- Experience with requirements traceability from requirements through design to verification.
- Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS and UML or model-based tools.
- Exposure to CMMI-based development processes and structured engineering practices.
- Experience with the Qt framework for graphical user interface (GUI) development.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools such as Nessus and Coverity and experience with STIG hardening.
- Knowledge of Ethernet security protocols including SSL/TLS, SSH, and SFTP.
- Experience with virtual machine configuration and usage for development and test environments.
- Familiarity with the NI toolset, including TestStand, VeriStand, and LabVIEW.
- Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools such as MagicDraw or Enterprise Architect.
- Familiarity with combat vehicle systems or similar defense and embedded platforms.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling Heights, MI.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $36.06/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
