Kforce has a client seeking a Cloud Engineer to join their team in New York. The Cloud Engineer would be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable, secure cloud infrastructure within AWS. This role is focused on cloud engineering, automation, and platform reliability to support modern applications and data platforms.
What Success Looks Like:
- Builds and manages scalable, secure AWS infrastructure
- Automates deployments and reduces manual operational overhead
- Improves system reliability, monitoring, and performance
- Acts as a strong partner to application and engineering teams* Experience designing and deploying highly available, scalable AWS environments
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture patterns
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration via ECS or EKS
- Able to automate provisioning, deployments, and operational tasks
- Strong scripting skills
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows and version control
Strong hands-on experience across the AWS ecosystem:
- Compute: EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS
- Storage/Data: S3, EBS, DynamoDB, RDS
- Networking & Security: VPCs, IAM, Security Groups, API Gateway, CloudFront
- Infrastructure as Code: CloudFormation and/or Terraform
Cloud Engineering & Infrastructure (Primary Focus):
- Build, automate, and manage cloud infrastructure in AWS
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for repeatable deployments
- Design resilient, fault-tolerant systems for production environments
- Optimize cloud environments for cost, performance, and scalability
- Support application teams with cloud design, architecture, and deployments
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using AWS tools or similar
Monitoring, Reliability & Security:
- Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting:
- CloudWatch
- Ensure system reliability, uptime, and performance
- Apply AWS security best practices
- Support incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
