We are seeking a Salesforce Technical Architect to lead the design and delivery of enterprise Salesforce solutions for a California state agency. The architect will own the end-to-end technical vision — data model, integrations, security, and platform governance — and serve as the senior technical authority guiding development teams, system integrators, and state stakeholders through the full project and approval lifecycle. Experience delivering Salesforce in a public sector environment and familiarity with California Department of Technology (CDT) project frameworks is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the overall Salesforce solution architecture, including data model, object design, sharing/security model, and platform scalability strategy
- Translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable, maintainable technical designs aligned to Salesforce best practices and state standards
- Architect and oversee integrations between Salesforce and external/legacy state systems using REST/SOAP APIs, MuleSoft, or middleware
- Establish development standards, governance, and DevOps/release management practices (CI/CD, sandbox strategy, version control)
- Lead technical design reviews; provide hands-on guidance on Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, and declarative configuration
- Define data migration, conversion, and data quality strategies for legacy-to-Salesforce transitions
- Document conceptual and detailed architecture, security considerations, and technical specifications
- Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, developers, QA, and control agencies throughout the SDLC
- Support procurement and solution-evaluation activities, including reviewing SOWs, technical requirements, and vendor proposals
- Provide technical leadership during testing, UAT, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization; mentor and transfer knowledge to state staff
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (equivalent experience may substitute)
- 8+ years of IT solution/technical architecture experience, with 5+ years architecting solutions on the Salesforce platform
- Deep expertise in Salesforce data modeling, security/sharing architecture, and the platform''''s governor limits and scalability constraints
- Strong hands-on background in Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL, and Salesforce Flow
- Proven experience designing and delivering complex Salesforce integrations (REST/SOAP, MuleSoft, or comparable middleware)
- Experience leading data migration and conversion on large, complex implementations
- Demonstrated experience as the lead technical architect on at least one large, complex IT project (multi-year, enterprise scale)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior Salesforce delivery experience with a California state agency or other U.S. public sector / government organization
- Experience with Salesforce Public Sector Solutions and Government Cloud
- Familiarity with the CDT Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL) / Project Delivery Lifecycle (PDL) and the California Project Management Framework (CA-PMF)
- MuleSoft and/or DevOps tooling (Copado, Gearset, Git-based CI/CD) experience
- Salesforce certifications strongly preferred, such as:
