Role Overview
As an Associate Manager, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions using Power BI and the Microsoft data ecosystem. You will combine technical expertise, team leadership, and stakeholder management to drive data-driven decision-making and enterprise reporting strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Delivery
Lead end-to-end design and implementation of Power BI dashboards, enterprise semantic models, and reporting solutions.
Architect and develop scalable tabular data models (Azure Analysis Services / Power BI datasets / Fabric semantic models).
Drive best practices in data modeling (star schema), DAX optimization, and performance tuning.
Oversee complex DAX calculations, time intelligence, and business logic implementation.
Ensure effective data integration (SQL, APIs, cloud, flat files) and transformation using Power Query (M) and ETL/ELT principles.
Implement enterprise-grade security (Row-Level Security, Object-Level Security, data governance standards).
Platform, Tools & Modern Data Stack
Work across the Microsoft Azure & Fabric ecosystem:
o Azure Data Factory (ADF)
o Azure Synapse Analytics
o Data Lake / Lakehouse architectures
o Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Direct Lake, Real-Time Analytics)
Drive adoption of modern BI capabilities (self-service BI, real-time dashboards, AI visuals, Copilot integrations).
Lead integration of Power BI with enterprise applications using Power BI Embedded, REST APIs, and automation workflows.
Team Leadership & Delivery Management
Manage and mentor a team of Power BI developers and analysts, ensuring high-quality delivery.
Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and design oversight.
Own delivery timelines, sprint planning, and effort estimation in Agile/Scrum environments.
Ensure adherence to coding standards, documentation, and version control practices (Azure DevOps/Git).
Stakeholder & Business Engagement
Partner with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into analytics solutions.
Drive solution design discussions, workshops, and requirement gathering sessions.
Present insights and dashboards to senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
Ensure solutions deliver measurable business value and actionable insights.
Governance, Quality & Optimization
Establish and enforce BI governance frameworks, including:
o Data quality management
o Metadata and lineage documentation
o Access control and compliance
Oversee report performance optimization, refresh strategies, and capacity management (Premium/Fabric).
Define and implement deployment pipelines, CI/CD practices, and release management.
Required Skills & Qualifications
7-10 years of experience in BI/Analytics with strong Power BI expertise
Degree in Computer Science / IT, Engineering, Data Analytics / Data Science, Mathematics / Statistics
Deep expertise in:
o Power BI (Desktop, Service, Premium/Fabric)
o DAX (advanced level) and Power Query (M)
o Data modeling (enterprise-grade semantic models)
Strong hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases
Experience with Azure data platform (ADF, Synapse, Data Lake, Fabric)
Solid understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and Lakehouse architectures
Experience implementing data security, governance, and compliance standards
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools
Proven ability to lead teams and manage end-to-end BI delivery
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Nice to Have
Experience with Microsoft Fabric end-to-end analytics platform
Exposure to Databricks, Spark, or big data ecosystems
Knowledge of Python/R for advanced analytics or data science use cases
