Python Developer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Developer to join a Developer Experience engineering team within the Enterprise Platform Technology (EPTech) organization. This role focuses on backend API development and cloud-native engineering for a critical internal platform called Quality Insights, which automates testing compliance validation and releases go/no-go decisions. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Python backend development, AWS serverless architecture, API development, DevOps practices, and full software development lifecycle ownership.

• Strong hands-on experience with Python backend/API development
• Experience with FastAPI and RESTful web services
• Strong AWS cloud experience, preferably within serverless architectures
• Experience deploying and operating production-grade applications
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing, and application support
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD concepts
• Familiarity with AI-powered developer tools such as Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT, or Windsurf
• Ability to independently handle end-to-end backend development responsibilities
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Must have previous client experience working for this customer in the past 5 years

• Prior experience working at Client (highly preferred)
• Experience working in environments aligned with Client engineering practices
• Experience working with proprietary pipeline or enterprise deployment tools
• Experience supporting applications in production environments

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support backend API services using Python and FastAPI
• Build and maintain scalable, resilient, cloud-native applications in AWS serverless environments
• Participate in the full backend development lifecycle including development, testing, deployment, support, and DevOps activities
• Work with ambiguous requirements and develop robust technical solutions
• Implement comprehensive testing strategies and support production applications
• Collaborate with engineering teams within an Agile environment
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity
• Deploy and operate web services in cloud environments

• Hybrid work model: 3 days onsite per week in McLean, VA
• Collaborative Agile engineering environment
• Backend-focused role (no frontend/UI development responsibilities)
