GovCIO is currently hiring for a SME Cloud Engineer with extensive experience in both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to design and manage our multi-cloud architecture supporting the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). This role provides high-level engineering, technical execution, and automion management to integre complex enterprise systems, manage cloud infrastructure, and ensure mission-critical USCG cloud environments achieve and retain operional authorizion. This position will be loced in Alexandria, VA,and will be a hybrid position.

Responsibilities: As a SME Cloud Engineer, the ideal candide will specialize in the integrion and automion of enterprise management tools, with a strong focus on connecting Microsoft Sentinel, Swimlane, ACAS, and Tanium to cree a cohesive and automed infrastructure posture across our hybrid environment. Core responsibilities include:
  • Manage multi-cloud engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring the successful planning and execution of enterprise architecture controls for USCG networks.
  • Develop automed workflows and playbooks within Swimlane to streamline operional responses and accelere system mitigion.
  • Enhance system monitoring across plforms with advanced da configurions, operional rules, and log tuning within Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Ensure real-time endpoint visibility, control, and continuous policy enforcement utilizing enterprise Tanium deployments.
  • Provide deep, hands-on engineering support in the selection, tailoring, and automion of nive cloud architecture controls across Azure and AWS environments.
  • Direct the selection and applicion of automed configurion monitoring and technical baseline checklists.
  • Actively monitor ACAS system scans and collabore closely with technical infrastructure teams to engineer automed solutions for identified system discrepancies.
  • Lead efforts in conducting cloud system risk assessments and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) management across USCG plforms.
  • Lead the drafting and maintenance of comprehensive architecture documention, systems engineering pterns, and federal compliance frameworks (such as ATO documention).
  • Coordine multi-cloud integrion testing activities and finalize associed compliance and deployment documention.
  • Manage the completion and routing of technical change management paperwork for infrastructure-as-code and systems policy updes.
  • Coordine and execute tool onboarding processes for new cloud applicions, workloads, and resources.
  • Engage and coordine with required USCG cloud infrastructure teams, operional commands, and systems departments.
  • Respond accurely and promptly to operional readiness da calls and technical da requests.
Qualificions:

High School with 12+ years (or commensure experience)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Certificions : Professional-level cloud engineering certificions (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Certified Security Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure Security Engineer Associe), alongside baseline enterprise IT certificions (e.g., CASP+ CE, CISSP, or equivalent technical baselines).
  • Proven technical experience architecting, integring, and deploying Microsoft Sentinel and Swimlane plforms.
  • Proven experience implementing and utilizing Tanium plforms for real-time enterprise endpoint visibility, compliance, and monitoring.
  • Demonstred advanced practical user experience with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) for cloud-based vulnerability and configurion scanning.
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of system configurions across hybrid infrastructures using both AWS and Microsoft Azure nive resource groups, policies, and logging feures.
  • Strong scripting skills using advanced languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) to build cohesive workflows, automed playbooks, and continuous system monitoring tasks.
  • Demonstred experience leading the engineering and execution of complex cloud infrastructure tool integrions from inception to completion within federal environments.

Clearance Level: Must have an active Secret clearance

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience supporting the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Department of Defense (DoD), or Federal cloud modernizion programs and architecture migrions.
  • Advanced project management or infrastructure management certificions such as PMP.
  • Deep knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible to autome continuous monitoring tasks and playbook responses.
