The Opportunity
As a Senior Systems Engineer at Iru, you will use your fluency in Windows device management and programming to architect and deliver powerful, functional tooling. You'll partner within and across engineering and product teams, driving innovation and technical excellence. We're in search of a Windows expert with proven coding ability to build and refine automation-driven workflows for software creation, packaging, and endpoint configuration.
How you will make a difference day to day
- Serve as the subject matter expert on Windows software distribution and endpoint configuration
- Architect and write infrastructural code to establish and refine automated software packaging and signing workflows
- Define and socialize platform best practices, providing direct technical leadership informed by domain knowledge and clear rationale
- Partner both within and cross-team to drive improvements in automation, testing, and monitoring
- Contribute, review, and test code changes to drive platform development and evolution
- Advocate for best practices across the team and organization; help colleagues grow through code reviews, documentation, technical guidance, and direct mentorship
- Triage identified issues and implement solutions to maintain platform stability
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years experience managing devices as a SysAdmin/Client Platform Engineer or similar role, with deep knowledge of Windows 10/11 and the evolution of Windows endpoint management
- Hands-on experience with Windows package tooling (WiX, NuGet, NSIS, MSIX Packaging Tool), coupled with a clear understanding of 64-bit vs. 32-bit vs. AArch64 software
- Hands-on experience with virtualization frameworks (Hyper-V, Proxmox VE, ESXi)
- Knowledge of software distribution managers/methods (WinGet, Chocolatey, Scoop)
- Comprehensive understanding of the Windows registry and registry hives; adept at configuring endpoints via Group Policy and ADMX
- Strong proficiency in PowerShell, Batch, and Python, with an ability to architect and contribute code for new features and proof of concepts
- Comprehensive understanding of semi-structured data types (JSON, YAML, XML) and how to manipulate them
- Working knowledge of RESTful APIs, object storage, automation pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins), and GitOps practices
- Familiarity with git-based version control, code reviews, and agile methodologies/tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a methodical and data-driven approach to quickly deconstruct and address issues as they arise
- Strong emotional intelligence, excellent interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to explain complex topics in easy to understand and concise language
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with macOS/Linux management
- Experience with shell scripting (Zsh, Bash, AppleScript)
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
