JOB DETAILS: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data models in LookML within Looker. Utilize SQL and dbt to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into analytics-ready datasets. Write custom event logic in TypeScript to enhance data collection and tracking capabilities. Process and query large-scale datasets efficiently, applying performance tuning techniques such as clustering, caching, and query optimization. Develop insightful dashboards and visualizations in Looker to monitor product performance, user behavior, marketing ROI, and other critical business KPIs. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, marketing, sales) to understand their analytical needs and translate them into effective data models and actionable insights. Apply statistical methods and data science principles to analyze data, identify trends, and generate meaningful insights. Utilize Python to prototype predictive models and develop proof-of-concept analytics solutions. Conduct training sessions and workshops for junior engineers, analysts, and business users to promote Looker adoption and improve overall data literacy. Implement and maintain rigorous dbt testing frameworks to ensure data quality and reliability. Utilize Git for version control and adhere to internal standards for documentation and peer review of data models and code. Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: THIS POSITION REQUIRES A MASTERS DEGREE (OR FOREIGN EQUIVALENT) IN DATA SCIENCE OR RELATED ENGINEERING/ANALYTICAL MAJOR WITH COURSEWORK IN DATA SCIENCE PLUS 6 MONTHS OF WORK EXPERIENCE IN A DATA SCIENCE/ANALYTICS ROLE, OR CLOSELY RELATED OCCUPATION.
Special Requirements: EXPERTISE/KNOWLEDGE OF:
1. Proven experience in writing complex SQL queries and using dbt for data transformation and modeling.
2. Experience writing custom event logic using TypeScript.
3. Demonstrated experience in processing and querying large-scale datasets, including performance tuning techniques.
4. Strong experience developing and maintaining LookML data models in Looker.
5. Hands-on experience using Looker to create dashboards, reports, and perform in-depth analysis for various business functions.
6. Solid understanding of analytics requirements and the ability to translate them into scalable data models and actionable insights.
7. Experience applying statistical methods and data science principles to solve business problems.
8. Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, analysis, and prototyping predictive models.
9. Experience with implementing dbt testing frameworks, utilizing Git for version control, and adhering to documentation and peer review processes.
