CTG is seeking an experienced IMS DBA Analyst to support and maintain IBM IMS database environments within a large-scale enterprise mainframe infrastructure. This role is responsible for database administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, system optimization, and production support for mission-critical applications.
Location: Phoenix, AZ metro area; hybrid working model
Duration: 6 months with option to convert after 6 months
Citizenship: USC, PR, and Other EAD holders accepted (no visa dependent candidates)
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and support IBM IMS DB and IMS TM environments on IBM z/OS
- Monitor database health, performance, storage utilization, and system availability
- Perform database tuning, reorganization, backup, recovery, and maintenance activities
- Troubleshoot database issues, transaction failures, and performance bottlenecks
- Support database upgrades, migrations, patching, and system enhancements
- Develop and maintain operational procedures, standards, and documentation
- Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and systems programmers
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives
- Configure database security and access controls
- Create automation scripts using JCL, REXX, SQL, and related tools
- Participate in production support and on-call rotations
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of IMS DBA or related mainframe database administration experience
- Strong experience with IBM IMS DB, IMS TM, and IBM z/OS environments
- Expertise in IMS backup/recovery, reorganization, and performance tuning
- Experience with JCL, REXX, SQL, and mainframe utilities
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale, high-availability systems
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
