Optical Network Engineer IV

Kforce is looking for a Optical Network Engineer to join their client in Seattle, WA. This role will join their FIPS project initiative (security/compliance-driven network updates) and Operational capacity restoration (stabilizing and scaling network infrastructure).

Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain large DWDM networks
• Troubleshoot optical transport systems
• Work on optical planning and modeling
• Resolve performance and capacity issues
• Support network upgrades and rollouts
• Work within an operational environment (not just design)* 4+ years of experience in a Optical Network Operations/Support role
• Experience with: DWDM, T1/DS1, DS3, SONET (OC3, OC48), 802.2/3, 802.1d VLANs/STP, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP (internals & flow control), BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC & VPNs, netflow, DNS, HTTP
• Experience with the rollout and operations of large DWDM networks and Optical network technologies
• Experience with optical planning and modelling tools
• Experience troubleshooting DWDM/Optical systems
• Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills
