at Health Care Service Corporation in Chicago, Illinois, United States Job Description NAME OF EMPLOYER: Health Care Service Corporation POSITION TITLE: Sr Data Engineer POSITION LOCATION: 300 East Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60601 JOB DESCRIPTION: Use deep knowledge and understanding of business needs to help the DATs define & execute a data strategy. Coordinate the development & delivery of data assets and serve as a single point of contact for issues /escalations to business stakeholders. Serve as a single point of contact embedded within the business for data requests and issues. Initiate and drive dialog with business areas to understand business needs/gaps, conduct analysis, and recommend solutions/options that best meet current and future business growth. Work closely with data delivery officers (DDOs) in Divisional Analytics Teams to understand the business problems they are trying to solve and direct them to build the best-suited data structures for analysis and ensure best in class data assets. Provide thought leadership and direction in the development and delivery of data assets. Collaborate across business areas to ensure consistent and concise results. Intake and triage data quality issues reported by business customers. Maintain an expert understanding of available Data Consumption Data Domain assets to promote reuse of existing data and analytical assets. Champion the activation of new data assets by providing subject matter expertise and availability timelines to business customers. Triage data product requests from business customers (including accountability for documenting requirements). Provide guidance and clarifications to DATs on leveraging Data Products in the portfolio (e.g. Clarify data usage patterns, data lineage). Assign requests to Data Consumption or Data Domain Product Teams based on expert understanding of assets, backlog, and business priority. Communicate updates to business customers throughout request fulfilment. Act as a concierge to the Divisional Analytics Teams (DATs). Telecommuting: 100% Telecommuting/working from home permitted from various and unanticipated locations throughout the U.S. REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, MIS, Mechanical Engineering, or in a related field and 8 years of experience as a Systems Analyst, QA Tester, Test Manager, Software Developer, Integration Test Lead, Developer, or in a related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Data processing environments; (2) Teradata & Hadoop; (3) Statistical modeling/predictive modeling/machine learning/data mining/optimization and big data concepts; (4) Data Warehouse development and data consumption; (5) Business Intelligence tools; (6) Application development platforms / languages; and (7) DevOps / continuous deployment / integration process.
