The Alexander Blewett III School of Law invites applications for a Computer Support Specialist II to provide advanced technical support to the school. Serving as the primary point of contact for classroom and event technology, as well as day-to-day IT needs, this role ensures that faculty, staff, and students receive timely and effective assistance with computer connectivity, software access, and related technical issues.

Working closely with UM IT, the Computer Support Specialist troubleshoots and resolves complex hardware, software, and peripheral problems while maintaining and supporting all IT systems within the Law building, including classroom technology, faculty and staff workstations, and public-use computers in the Law Library. The position also coordinates the setup, operation, and teardown of audio-visual equipment for classes, meetings, conferences, and special events.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee incident and service requests, ensuring timely resolution and effective customer support.

Develop clear, user-friendly technical support materials and documentation.

Manage inventory and organization within the main LawIT office, tracking all LawIT equipment to ensure efficiency and accessibility.

Provide support for ExamSoft and assist with law school examinations during exam periods.

Collaborate on additional technology-related projects and emerging needs.

Open the main LawIT office daily and ensure classrooms are fully operational each morning.

Deliver in-person, customer service-focused technical support.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma and two (2) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to deliver exceptional customer service.

Demonstrated time management and multitasking skills with the ability to complete projects with critical deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to organize and document information, including prioritization and completion of tasks, and documenting and following checklists on proven solutions.

Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with people who don't have a technical background.

Demonstrated experience and expertise working with audio/visual equipment and technology of the type used in university classrooms.

Demonstrated experience and expertise in supporting client hardware and software, storage systems and networks, including Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS.

Research skills to gather, analyze and organize information to generate meaningful solutions to complex problems.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in educational technology, information technology, or a related field or something similar.

Two (2) years of experience providing technical support in an academic or professional setting.

Experience working with enterprise-level IT environments and tools.

Familiarity working in Higher Education environment.

Compensation Title: Computer Support Specialist II

Work Schedule:Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with flexibility for evening and weekend support during events and technology upgrades, 12 months/year,

Probationary Period:Six (6) months minimum
