Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human
Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence. This is an opportunity to do career-defining work.
The AI Identity Solutions Architect Opportunity
Reporting to the VP of Identity & Access Management, this role will be an AI Identity Pioneer, not just an IAM expert. The AI Identity Solution Architect's mission is to own Okta's enterprise identity strategy for autonomous AI agents, while serving as a technical authority on both cloud and on-premises based IT systems to ensure the successful design and implementation of Okta's industry-leading cloud identity platform for Okta and our customers.
The critical asset you bring is your hands-on proficiency securing non-human identities across large, complex environments and translating it to autonomous agents. You will establish yourself as a trusted partner to our customers with a focus on their success. By translating business needs and insights into an actionable strategy, you will assist customers in driving their initiatives to results and high business value. At Okta, you won't just implement security; you will use your battle-tested experience to drive the product features needed to secure the next generation of identities.
What you'll be doing
- Customer Needs & Discovery: Review and lead the gathering of business, functional and technical requirements for establishing an AI Identity platform powered by Okta. You will lead discovery workshops to derive customer requirements, specifications, and business processes.
- Consultative Solutions: Develop relationships with both internal and external customers to help them achieve their business goals while promoting creative solutions.
- Drive the Roadmap: Act as a primary stakeholder for Okta's product teams. Translate your real-world experience securing agents into prioritized feature requests and product requirements.
- Cross-App Access & Brokered Delegation: Architect secure Cross-App Access patterns where agents act as intermediaries between enterprise systems. Refine how user identity is brokered to an agent (e.g. OAuth2 Token Exchange), ensuring the agent never has more power than the human user who triggered it.
- AI Ecosystem & Tech Stack Integration: Define how Okta identity is woven into modern AI orchestration layers. You will secure identity patterns for agents enabled by frameworks such as LangChain/Graph/Smith, n8n, AWS AgentCore, Google Vertex ADK.
- Model Provider Security: Architect secure connectivity to AI model providers such as Azure Foundry, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
What you'll bring to the role
- Architecture, Consulting, & Identity Expertise: 8+ years of overall IT, software development, solution design, and technical architecture experience; combined 3+ years of consulting experience and IAM/Security Architecture with proven strategic success across workforce, customer, and Non-Human Identities (NHIs).
- The "Been There" Factor: Proven track record of securing AI agents and non-human identities in a production environment. You have a deep understanding of the identity gaps in current AI frameworks.
- Agentic Identity Authority: Act as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for agentic workflows within Okta's internal Identity team. Partnering with the business to ensure our internal deployments of autonomous agents are secure, governed, and built on best-in-class architecture.
- Protocol Proficiency: Deep knowledge of the core protocols OAuth2/OIDC (especially Token Exchange), SAML, mTLS, JWT, and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Executive Presence & Communication: Demonstrated ability to work and interact with C-Suite and high-level customer executives. You must be able to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and effectively manage customer expectations.
- Technical Influence: Ability to author Architecture Decision Records (ADR) and influence at the VP/CTO level, while simultaneously acting as a peer to Product Management.
- Occasional travel required for in-person collaboration and attendance at industry conferences such as Oktane.
- Will take the stage to host customer-facing sessions, sharing our internal playbook and the cutting-edge best practices we've developed by operating as Okta's own Customer Zero.
And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following!
- Certifications such as CISSP-ISSAP, CCSP, or TOGAF are welcome but not required or expected.
