Senior Automation EngineerOverviewA growing organization is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer with a strong background in IT-integrated automation systems. This role focuses on troubleshooting, system design, validation, and supporting complex manufacturing and process environments.The ideal candidate will have experience across automation, validation, and IT systems, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in regulated environments.Key ResponsibilitiesAutomation & EngineeringDesign, implement, and configure automation systems including PLC, HMI, and vision systemsModify and maintain control logic for moderately complex to advanced systemsTroubleshoot automation and IT-centric systems to detect and resolve issuesSupport installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated processing, filling, inspection, and packaging equipmentValidation & ComplianceEnsure compliance with cGMP, regulatory standards, and quality requirementsAuthor, review, and execute commissioning, qualification, and validation documentationRun test scripts and document results against specificationsContribute to validation protocols and execute testing activitiesMaintain accurate and detailed validation and qualification recordsSupport development of validation master plans and periodic reviewsPerform impact and risk assessmentsChange ManagementSupport and manage change control processes, including:Authoring proposed changesConducting impact assessments and regression analysisSupporting documentation and release activitiesOperations & SupportProvide 24/7 support for automation systems as requiredPerform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure reliable operationsAnalyze process issues and recommend corrective and preventive actionsDevelop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)Collaboration & Project ExecutionWork cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and IT teamsLead or contribute to small project teams and manage assigned deliverablesCommunicate technical issues clearly and drive alignment across teamsSupport cybersecurity initiatives across site and network teamsEnsure adherence to project schedules and milestonesRequirements3-5 years of industrial automation experienceExperience with SQL database creation and managementUnderstanding of domain authentication and IT system integrationExperience working with IT teams on system implementations and upgradesAbility to perform software installations, updates, and server upgradesFamiliarity with Citrix environmentsStrong knowledge of GMP and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)Ability to read, interpret, and modify control system logic and documentationExperience generating User Requirement Specifications (URS)Ability to make minor PLC and HMI modificationsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsLocation Requirement: Onsite role in Indianapolis, INKey SkillsStrong analytical and technical problem-solving abilityEffective communication and teamwork skillsAbility to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlinesDetail-oriented with strong organizational skills
