About the Role

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to provide AI/Cloud Modernization support the Department of Housing and Urban Developments Office of the Chief Information Officer ( HUD OCIO ).

The Senior DevOps Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and operationalization of HUDs DevOps platform and cloud-native capabilities. This role will support AI/ML modernization efforts by establishing automated pipelines, containerized microservices, data pipelines, and secure cloud infrastructure. This role collaborates closely with HUD infrastructure, operations, and AI/ML teams to ensure scalable, production-ready solutions.

This is a fully remote position supporting a federal government contract that requires a federal background check and NACI clearance. Candidates must reside in the United States.

Responsibilities

+ Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps for software development, DevOps, and ML Ops initiatives.

+ Establish and manage automated workflows for build, test, and deployment processes.

+ Configure and maintain cloud infrastructure ( AWS , Azure) to support new capability development.

+ Develop and manage microservices, containerization, and declarative APIs.

+ Implement data pipelines (Apache Kafka) and automated data validation routines.

+ Support HUD in maturing architectures, technology stacks, coding standards, version control strategies, software integration points, and milestone plans.

+ Embed security in DevOps workflows in coordination with the Senior Security Engineer.

+ Document all processes, configuration management, and privacy/security compliance activities.

+ Participate in AI/ML proofs of concept and scale pilots into enterprise-ready systems.
