The Dean of Technology Services/CIO provides strategy, vision and leadership in aligning the needs of students, faculty and staff with information technology solutions. This position oversees the development and implementation of the technology plan; providing direction and oversight for computing and telecommunication equipment and services to meet the needs of the College community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Provides leadership, vision and management to the Technology Services department
- Selects, supervises, trains, motivates and evaluates a team of information technology professionals
- Responsible for the College network and systems, all telecommunication systems, media equipment and systems, servers and server management and technical support for the College community
- Oversees the revision and ensures compliance with the Colleges Technology Plan
- Oversees the development, design and implementation of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software packages
- Meets with stakeholders to assess new computing technologies and the feasibility of system enhancements to determine potential value for the college
- Ensures the continual functioning of mission critical operations
- Develops, reviews and evaluates all backup and disaster recovery procedures and plans specific to areas of responsibility
- Oversees technology related aspects of all College construction and renovation projects
- Provides project coordination, planning and leadership for all technology projects ensuring scope and direction of each project is on schedule and within budget
- Serves as co-chair for the Technology Committee
- Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
- Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the Colleges mission, core values and goals
Bachelors degree in Information Technology or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
Ten (10) years of applicable experience in one of the assigned information technology areas.
Five (5) years experience at a supervisory or manager level.
Information Technology certifications in one of the functional areas to be managed.
Preferred:
Masters degree in Information Technology or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
Community college experience.
Project Management certification.
