Duties

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, is responsible for all Information Technology (IT) at the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). This position is responsible for managing both the Technology Support & Infrastructure and Software Solutions Departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the oversight of all IT functions at ISBE to ensure the operations are effectively managed with the Agency's mission, vision, and goals.
  • Works with agency leadership to develop strategy, determine priorities, define projects, and develop technology roadmaps to effectively support agency operations.
  • Communicates technology needs to senior leadership.
  • Oversees implementation and integration of agency computer system and software applications.
  • Troubleshoots and finds solutions for technology issues as they arise.
  • Recommends system and application upgrades as needed.
  • Responsible for management of Technology Support & Infrastructure and Software Solutions departments; ensures internal and external user needs are being met.
  • Manages security of information technology.
  • Assesses risks and implements controls to ensure systems and associated data maintained is secure.
  • Performs administrative duties associated with procurement.
  • Oversees and develops the IT budget.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (IT) or Computer Science plus five years of experience in IT management in the last seven years, or, a Bachelor's degree in any field plus seven years of experience in IT management in the last ten years. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • Five years of IT management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of information technology.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work independently on issues and projects and to participate cooperatively on group projects.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Strong analytical /critical thinking/problem solving skills.

Salary/Benefits

Union:Exempt Department:Information Technology Anticipated Starting Salary Range:$127,340 - $168,725 Full Salary Range:$127,340 - $210,111 Office Hours:Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
