Texas Instruments is seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to join our Aerospace & Defense Embedded Systems team in Dallas, Texas. You will lead the development of advanced firmware and embedded software for next-generation radar, electronic warfare, and communications systems. This role combines low-level firmware optimization with system-level architecture, working at the intersection of high-speed data acquisition, DSP algorithms, and heterogeneous processor platforms. You have the ability to showcase advanced A&D capabilities on cutting-edge processors and FPGAs.
Responsibilities:
Firmware & Embedded Software Development
- Design and implement high-performance firmware for RF data pipelines.
- Knowledge of DSP concepts (filters, matrix math, digital beam forming, equalization, channelization, etc.)
- Develop and optimize PCIe, JESD204, and Ethernet drivers.
- Port and benchmark RF signal processing algorithms
System Architecture, Design, and Collaboration
- Collaborate with RF and hardware teams to define system architectures for data synchronization and AESA timing
- Translating FPGA functions to hard macros for ASIC implementation with attention to latency, throughput, and phase noise.
- Influence next-generation platform roadmap based on implementation learnings from demonstrator work
- Co-develop competitive solutions with customer engineers and field applications engineers, demonstrating comfort with change and uncertainty.
- Ability to teach and influence others.
Board Bring-Up & Evaluation Support
- Lead or support PCB/FPGA/processor board bring-up and initial integration testing
- Prepare technical documentation and demonstrate system capabilities to internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, ECE, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 10 years of professional engineering experience in embedded systems, FPGA firmware, or RF signal processing software development
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python; strong capability with VHDL or Verilog and
expertise with FPGA design tools (Vivado/Vitis)
Deep understanding of RF signal chains, RF performance metrics (NF, SFDR, IP2, IP3, phase noise), and RF system design.
Proficiency with high-speed interfaces: PCIe protocols, JESD204B/C, and serial data links
Proficiency with MATLAB for algorithm development, simulation, and data analysis
