Database Administrator C. Advanced

The DBA team is responsible for ensuring the application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schemas meet the department standards for data requirements. The candidate in this position will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, amendments and optimization of the schema to meet system(s) requirements. The candidate must be able to understand and demonstrate the ability to develop database and warehousing design across multiple platforms and computing environments. The candidate must be able to work as part of a team to assist in developing an overall data architecture that supports the Departments needs and meets Department and Agency for State Technology (AST) security standards.

The candidate must have skill and 15 years combined experience in database administration for the following database platforms:

  1. DB2 for z/OS
  2. SQL Server 2008R2, 2012
  3. Oracle 10g and above
Primary Duties/Tasks
The Candidate will primarily be tasked with performing Database (DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, GIS) planning and operational activities including, but not limited to the following:
  1. Daily operational and database administration activities
  2. Plan, design, implement, support for database structures
  3. Conduct database performance monitoring and tuning
  4. Develop and maintain database administration procedures and documentation
  5. Perform SQL Code reviews
  6. Assist with training/mentoring other technical staff This resource may also be required to perform other database or infrastructure activities as requested
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
The Candidate must be able to apply common knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
  1. Advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS application integration, performance management and data base administration
  2. Advanced knowledge of upgrading DB2 for z/OS
  3. Advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS catalog maintenance
  4. Advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS sub-system point in time recovery
  5. Advanced knowledge of JCL
  6. In depth knowledge of the z/OS integrated platform
  7. In depth knowledge of CA GEN model management and application object support
  8. In depth knowledge of ISPF
  9. In depth knowledge of the ASG Scheduler
  10. In depth knowledge of COBOL
  11. In depth knowledge of the use and interpretation of DB2 for z/OS database monitoring tools
  12. In depth knowledge of the use and interpretation of z/OS software monitoring tools
  13. In depth knowledge of technical infrastructure implementation planning and coordinating
  14. Solid working knowledge of z/OS started task creation and management
  15. Solid working knowledge of IBI z/OS service support
  16. Solid working knowledge of AFOPER commands
  17. Solid working knowledge of RACF
  18. Solid working knowledge of CICS
  19. Solid working knowledge of IOF
  20. Solid working knowledge of the technical requirements of Disaster Recovery
  21. Solid working knowledge of Oracle application integration, performance management and data base administration
  22. Solid working knowledge of MSSQL application integration, performance management and data base administration
  23. Solid working knowledge of verification testing techniques for infrastructure change management
  24. Working knowledge of z/OS EXITs
  25. Working knowledge of BJS
  26. Working knowledge of Windows Servers
  27. Working knowledge of SSMS, SSRS, SSIS
  28. Working knowledge of Azure
Other Information:
  • This is a Contract assignment with our Client: State Government
  • Full Time: 40 Hours Per Week
  • Duration: 1 Year with possible extensions.
  • Work Location: Onsite in Tallahassee, FL.
  • This is a W-2 Contract role with Meridian.
  • Health Benefits Available.
  • Contract Pay Rate Range: $58.00 to $62.00 Per Hour.
  • There is no C2C or Visa Sponsorship with this role.


This position is located in Tallahassee, Florida. Consultants should reside in the area or indicate the reason they are willing/seeking to relocate. Also, interested Consultants must indicate they are willing to relocate at their own expense as this position does not offer relocation assistance.
