Overview

GovCIO is seeking an experienced Senior React/Redux Frontend Developer to lead feature delivery and architectural enhancements across VA.gov applications. This role is responsible for driving front-end technical strategy, mentoring developers, ensuring engineering excellence, and partnering cross-functionally to deliver high-impact and scalable solutions. This position is fully remote located within the United States.

Responsibilities

+ Serve as the primary technical leader for front-end engineering efforts, guiding architectural decisions, coding standards, and long-term technical roadmap.

+ Design, develop, and optimize user interface components using React.js, Redux, TypeScript, and enterprise design system libraries.

+ Oversee integration of complex REST / SOAP APIs, VA enterprise services, and distributed systems.

+ Lead system planning, architecture discussions, and end-to-end software development lifecycle activities.

+ Mentor mid-level developers, conduct in-depth code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices.

+ Partner with product owners, UX designers, backend teams, and stakeholders to refine requirements and shape user-focused solutions.

+ Develop accurate estimates, technical approaches, and implementation plans for upcoming work.

+ Create and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, operational guides, and support materials.

+ Oversee and participate in unit, integration, and end-to-end testing initiatives to ensure reliability and maintainability.

+ Perform advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and system performance optimization.

+ Assess system requirements, data flows, security implications, and application dependencies for ongoing modernization efforts.

+ Maintain proactive communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency throughout delivery cycles.

+ Lead sprint reviews, backlog grooming, and other Agile ceremonies as a senior contributor.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in a related field with 5-8 years of professional software development experience, or equivalent.

Required Skills and Experience

+ Bachelors degree in a related field with 5-8 years of professional software development experience, or equivalent.

+ 5-8 years of experience building production-grade applications using React and Redux.

+ Strong expertise with JavaScript
