Tech Support Specialist

Burlington School District is seeking three individuals to fill our Tech Support Specialist positions. Tech Support Specialists provide a variety of IT support services to meet the needs of the school district. Primary responsibilities include servicing and supporting hardware (computers/laptops, Chromebooks, iPads), software applications, and associated equipment and services in the district schools.
The ideal candidate will be a team player with a positive attitude, reliable transportation and good time management skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other Duties may be assigned.
Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, network, and software problems.
Process tech support tickets and IT needs for district schools.
Install and upgrade hardware, operating systems, and software programs.
Communicate with end users during the support process.
Maintain user accounts and passwords for various services.
Maintain software and hardware inventories and IT support documentation.
Provide on-site, remote and phone support to multiple schools
Provide customer support through the district phone help desk.
Process warranty repair claims.
Interact with students to resolve issues with district issued devices.
Work with district staff and students to meet changing technology needs.
Collaborate with colleagues on the Tech Integration and Data Teams.
Communicate and operate as a professional support representative.
Other Duties:
Participate in district computer services team meetings.
Monitor compliance with laws and district policy pertinent to technology use.
Perform other tasks or other responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor or his/her designee.
The required education and experience for this position include:
Education:
High school diploma minimum. Associates degree or greater in a computer or information technology related field is highly preferred.
Experience:
Experience with Windows 10/11.
Familiar with MacOS.
Experience with mobile devices (Chromebook, iPad).
Experience with wired and wireless network technologies.
Experience with Mobile Device Management systems.
Familiar with display technologies- TVs, projectors, Interactive display.
Experience with Disk cloning or imaging systems.
Familiar with Google Workspace products- Gmail, Google Drive, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (see highlighted bullet):
Working knowledge: Sufficient familiarity with the subject to know basic principles and terminology and to understand and solve simple problems.
General knowledge: Sufficient knowledge of a field to perform most work in normal situations. The work calls for comprehension of standard situations and includes knowledge of most of the significant aspects of the subject.
Thorough knowledge: Advanced knowledge of the subject matter. The work calls for sufficient comprehension of the subject area to solve unusual as well as common work problems, to be able to advise on technical matters and to serve as a resource on the subject for others in the organization.
Comprehensive knowledge: Requires complete mastery and understanding of the subject. This term should be used sparingly and only for unusually exacting or responsible positions required to originate hypotheses, concepts, or approaches.
List Specific Skills And/Or Abilities Required:
Excellent communication, time-management, and organizational skills.
Ability to work with a minimum of supervision, and exhibit adaptability and flexibility.
Must be self-motivated and able to follow directions independently.
Positive, effective and professional customer service skills
Ability to support staff, students, community members, and colleagues with varying IT skill levels.
Proactive attitude in anticipating, finding, and solving problems.
A strong interest in supporting education.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds safely.
EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS/TERMS:
SALARY: As per the Master agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Information Technology Employees, Appendix A. In addition to great health benefits and paid time off, this full-time position starts at $26.50 - $30.30 per hour based on experience. This is a hourly position paid Bi-Weekly eligible for an applicable shift differential.
BENEFITS: Benefits eligible on start date. 30 days to enroll in coverage from start day. BSD Benefits!
PAID TIME: Sick Time / Personal Time / Holidays / Vacation As per the Master Agreement
