Job Summary:
MS Companies is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Systems Programmer for a direct-hire opportunity supporting a global automotive manufacturing organization in the Reynoldsburg, Ohio area.
This individual will play a key role supporting manufacturing operations, production traceability systems, plant programming initiatives, and internal systems optimization within a fast-paced industrial environment.
The ideal candidate will have 5-10+ years of software development experience within manufacturing, industrial, automotive, or production-oriented environments and will enjoy solving real-world operational and systems challenges in a highly collaborative setting.
This role also offers the opportunity to mentor and guide a smaller internal programming/IT group while remaining highly hands-on technically.
Required Skills & Qualifications
5-10+ years of software development experience
Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience (SQL Server 2005+)
Experience with:
C#
.NET / ASP.NET
SQL
JavaScript
PHP
HTML
Visual Basic or modern equivalents
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Manufacturing or automotive industry experience
Production traceability systems experience
PLC ladder logic read/write capability
Industrial systems or plant-floor systems exposure
Experience mentoring junior technical personnel
Experience supporting production-critical applications
Experience balancing operational support with project-based development work
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Design, develop, and troubleshoot custom software programs supporting manufacturing operations
Support and improve production traceability systems
Maintain and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments
Develop applications and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency
Provide technical support during production-related system interruptions
Maintain documentation, version control, and change management processes
Mentor and support less experienced programmers and technical team members
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and manufacturing personnel
Physical & Environment Requirements
Physical expectations and working conditions associated with the role may include a combination of office and manufacturing plant environments.
Work may involve:
Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods
Exposure to moderate manufacturing noise levels
Occasional lifting of computer/network equipment up to approximately 40 lbs.
Occasional stooping, crawling, or installation-related work
Occasional after-hours or production-related support responsibilities
