Job Description:
Role Summary
The US GAAP Product Owner is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and enhancement of financial reporting solutions aligned with US GAAP standards, with a primary focus on LDTI (ASU 2018-12). The role acts as a bridge between Finance, Actuarial, Compliance, and Technology teams to deliver accurate, scalable, and audit-ready reporting solutions for life insurance and annuity products.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the product backlog for US GAAP financial reporting initiatives aligned with LDTI requirements.
  • Translate actuarial models, accounting policies, and business requirements (ASC 944) into detailed user stories and functional specifications.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of insurance liabilities, Deferred Acquisition Costs (DAC), premium revenue, and related financial metrics.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Actuarial, IT, and Compliance stakeholders to define and execute the product roadmap.
  • Validate financial reporting outputs to ensure compliance with audit and regulatory standards.
  • Support IFRS to US GAAP transformation initiatives and ongoing system enhancements.
  • Work within Agile/Scrum or SAFe frameworks to prioritize deliverables and manage sprint execution.
  • Coordinate with development and QA teams to ensure successful implementation and release management.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 8–10 years of experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst in Financial Services or Insurance domain.
  • Strong expertise in US GAAP accounting standards including ASC 944, LDTI (ASU 2018-12), and CECL.
  • Experience in Life Insurance and Annuities domain.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum / SAFe).
  • Knowledge of policy administration systems and financial reporting platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Experience working on finance transformation or regulatory reporting projects is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to IFRS to US GAAP conversion projects.
  • Understanding of actuarial reporting and insurance accounting workflows.
  • Experience with enterprise financial systems and data integration platforms.
