Quality and Test Engineering (QTE) is an enterprise product organization that builds and supports self-service testing platforms, frameworks, and standards to enable automated, scalable, and consistent testing across all Lines of Business. Role Objective: Provide senior level functional test automation enablement across Lines of Business (LOBs) by triaging and resolving complex impediments, driving consistent adoption of enterprise testing standards, and supporting nonstandard and edge case applications that fall outside mainstream tool usage. This role operates as an enterprise escalation and enablement function, not as a delivery team resource.

1. Functional Test Automation Enablement & Impediment Resolution

Act as a senior technical enablement resource to triage, analyze, and resolve functional test automation issues, blockers, and impediments impacting LOB teams.

Partner closely with LOB Single Points of Contact (SPOCs) to:

o Diagnose complex or systemic automation challenges

o Recommend compliant patterns, configurations, or approaches aligned with enterprise standards

o Drive resolution across tooling, pipelines, test frameworks, and execution models

Identify recurring impediments and feed actionable insights back into enablement materials, standards, and platform improvements.

2. Level 3 (L3) Support via Office Hours & Escalation Channels

Serve as Level 3 technical support for Functional Test Automation during established Office Hours and enterprise chat channels.

Handle escalations that exceed L1/L2 support capabilities, including:

o Complex framework behavior

o CI/CD integration issues

o Test execution failures with non obvious root causes

Ensure timely, high quality responses that unblock teams and reduce downstream delivery risk.

3. Support for Niche, Edge Case, and Non Standard Applications

Provide targeted enablement and escalation support for:

o Applications outside mainstream or opinionated usage of enterprise test automation tools

o Legacy platforms, atypical architectures, or constrained environments

Work with product teams and engineering stakeholders to:

o Document viable patterns for non standard use cases

o Identify when exceptions or enhancements are required

o Escalate gaps that require platform or tooling changes

4. Development & Publication of Test Development Standards

Create, curate, and publish enterprise functional test development standards, including but not limited to:

o Test repository and GitHub structure conventions

o CI/CD pipeline configuration patterns for test execution

o Test tagging, execution strategies, and results management

o Environment aware configuration and data handling practices

Ensure standards are:

o Practically applicable across diverse LOB contexts

o Accessible, reusable, and adoption oriented

o Maintained and iterated based on real world usage and escalations

5. Knowledge Assets & Enablement Content

Produce and maintain enablement artifacts such as:

o Reference implementations

o Troubleshooting guides for common and advanced issues

o Decision guides for framework, pipeline, and execution choices

Partner with platform and product owners to ensure published guidance aligns with supported tooling and roadmap direction.

Out of Scope

Direct feature development within application delivery teams

Acting as embedded sprint capacity or side programming resource

Ownership of application specific test delivery or execution

Expected Outcomes

Reduced functional test automation escalations and cycle time to resolution

Improved consistency in test framework usage and CI/CD integration

Increased supportability for non-standard and edge case applications

Clear, consumable test development standards that scale enterprise adoption

Tangible reduction in delivery risk related to functional test automation failures
