Job Title: Data Business Analyst (Capital Markets)

Location: Toronto,ON (Day 1 Onsite - 3 days/week office)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Business Analyst with strong expertise in Capital Markets and modern data platforms. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing data models, creating detailed Source-to-Target mappings, and working closely with Data Engineering teams to build scalable data solutions on Azure Databricks and ADLS Gen2.

Key Responsibilities

1. Capital Markets Data Modeling

Design and maintain logical and physical data models for Capital Markets domains such as:

Trade execution

Portfolio positions

Market data (pricing/ticks)

Risk metrics

Translate complex financial structures (e.g., fund-of-funds, multi-asset portfolios) into scalable data models

Support Point-in-Time (PIT) and As-Of reporting requirements

2. Source-to-Target Mapping (STM)

Create and manage detailed STM documents for data migration and integration

Map data from legacy systems and vendors (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, Aladdin) to ADLS Gen2

Define transformation logic, business rules, and data enrichment processes

Ensure data lineage and traceability for regulatory compliance

3. Databricks & Data Engineering Collaboration

Design optimized Delta Lake structures for large-scale financial datasets

Implement efficient partitioning and Z-ordering strategies for time-series data

Work closely with engineering teams to enable high-performance Spark processing

Utilize Unity Catalog for data governance and access control

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience:

5+ years in Capital Markets / Wealth Management

7+ years in Data Analysis / Data Modeling

Domain Expertise:

Strong understanding of financial instruments & trade lifecycle

Experience with portfolio, market data, and risk datasets

Technical Skills:

Hands-on with Azure Databricks & ADLS Gen2

Strong in Data Modeling (Logical & Physical)

Expertise in Spark SQL and PySpark

Experience with Delta Lake (ACID, Time Travel) and Parquet

Data Mapping & Governance:

Strong experience in Source-to-Target Mapping (STM)

Knowledge of data lineage and governance frameworks

Hands-on with Unity Catalog

Tools:

SQL, Python, Excel (data analysis & profiling)

Confluence / Visio (documentation, ER diagrams)

Nice to Have

Experience working with data vendors like Bloomberg, Reuters, Aladdin

Exposure to large-scale cloud data platforms

Strong stakeholder communication skills
