Position Summary:

The Linux Systems Engineer is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of SamsungSDSAs Linuxbased datacenter and state of the art FAB production environment. Working closely with senior engineers and IT operations, this individual ensures that all systems are reliable, secure, and aligned with business needs, while supporting disasterrecovery readiness and highavailability standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain RedHat and OracleLinux platforms perform routine administration, health checks, and security hardening across all production servers.
  • Execute patching, upgrades, and migrations apply OS updates, migrate workloads between hardware or virtual environments, and provide Tier3 support for complex incidents.
  • Support virtualization infrastructure create, configure, and manage virtual machines (KVM/VMware) to meet application capacity and performance requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain MIS, MOS, and NES systems ensure continuous operation of application servers in the Austin and Taylor datacenters, responding to alerts and performing corrective actions.
  • Participate in disasterrecovery planning and testing assist in designing DR procedures, conduct scheduled failover drills, and verify recovery time and point objectives.
  • Assist with new system design and implementation projects contribute to project planning, hardware/software provisioning, and documentation for rollouts in FAB/CUB environments.
  • Manage asset inventory and configuration records keep accurate documentation of server hardware, software licenses, and configuration baselines in alignment with ITIL practices.
  • Provide oncall support be ready to respond to critical incidents affecting FAB production lines and facility systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of handson experience administering Linux systems in enterprise or manufacturing environments.
  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience; industry certifications (e.g., RHCSA/RHCE, Linux+, RedHat Certified Engineer) are a plus.
  • Ability to design, implement, and maintain VMwarebased solutions; experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) is highly desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of NetApp and EMC storage platforms, including LUN creation, provisioning (iSCSI & Fibre Channel), diskpool and staging management, and fileshare services such as CIFS/SMB, NFS, FC, and NDMP.
  • Advanced troubleshooting including analysis of Linux system logs, diagnosing performance or reliability issues, and driving rootcause resolution.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills and ability to partner with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Provides effective knowledge transfer to peers.
  • Maintains meticulous documentation habits and proactively shares insights that strengthen team capability.
  • Thrives in highavailability, fastpaced environments and responds effectively to urgent or afterhours support needs.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US for any employer without restrictions.
  • Must be willing and able to work full time onsite in Taylor, TX

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Practical experience building, deploying, and managing containers with Docker and orchestrating workloads with Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency with Bash/KornShell scripting tools combined with programming in Perl and Python for automation, tooling, and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering Linuxbased opensource solutions
