We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team in Calgary, AB. This role requires a dedicated professional with a strong background in database management and optimization, primarily focusing on MS SQL Server and Oracle databases. The successful candidate will work onsite 5 days per week, with the potential for 1 day remote.
Required Skills & Qualifications- 8-10 years of experience in Database Administration.
- Proficiency in MS SQL Server and Oracle Database Administration.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in SQL database optimization and problem-solving.
- Experience with Relational Database Management Systems and concepts.
- Experience with High Availability Failover clusters, Always-on availability groups, and replication.
- Experience with SSRS and SSIS packages.
- Knowledge of Windows Server Cluster Services in Azure and On-Premises environments, including basic PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with Azure SQL PaaS and MS SQL and Oracle Databases in Azure Cloud.
- Experience in MSSQL Server Performance - CPU, Memory, High usage, and database maintenance, Query Performance.
- Knowledge of Backup and restore operations on the databases, Azure Blob Storage.
- Experience in database migration, installation, and upgrades.
- Ability to deploy and troubleshoot SQL Server Failover Cluster Instances and SQL High Availability Instances.
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle (12c, 19c) and high availability architectures.
- Working knowledge of disaster recovery architectures, specifically Dataguard, building and maintaining environments.
- Working knowledge of Database monitoring methodologies, RMAN Backup and Recovery, GoldenGate replication.
- Strong understanding of performance tuning methodologies.
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux platforms and operating systems including scripting and editors.
- Working knowledge of database security implementations and data privacy.
- Experience in SQL Server and Oracle databases related vulnerability management.
- Prior work experience at client or in client's industry.
- Additional certifications in database management or related fields.
- Experience with other database management systems.
- Familiarity with the latest database technologies and trends.
- Manage and maintain MS SQL Server and Oracle databases.
- Ensure high availability and performance of databases through proactive monitoring and optimization.
- Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive information.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of database systems.
- Perform regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and data migration as needed.
