What You'll Do
As a Geospatial Information Systems Specialist within the Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGIS) Branch, you'll coordinate and manage critical program functions that support our installation development and real property mission. Your responsibilities include:
- Create, update, and maintain building floorplans using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3D point cloud processing software
- Generate, develop, and maintain GIS data, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with standards using engineering drawings, field notes, aerial imagery, 3D point clouds, and survey data
- Perform field data collection using 3D Laser Scanners, GPS, Total Station, utility locators, tablets, and field applications to generate geospatial data.
- Develop standard operating procedures and best practices for data processing
- Use and develop Python scripts to automate workflows
- Integrate GIS applications with agency data for decision making
This role supports the core imperatives of the Ohio National Guard: Mobilizing Units, Recruiting and Retention, and Preparing for Great Power Competition.

To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following:
Option 1: 4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in coordination of operations of geographical information systems to include data input operations, creation of digital spatial data bases, design & implementation of geographic information & applications design & use of projections, coordinate systems & map algebra in operation of geographic information systems.
Option 2: Completion of Undergraduate core program in geography, natural resources, engineering, planning, computer science, biology, geology, ecology or related field to include course work in geographic information systems (e.g., applications in geographic information systems; design & implementation of geographic information; creation of digital spatial data bases; data input operations in geographic information);
& 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in use of projections, coordinate systems & map algebra in operations of geographic information systems.
Option 3: Completion of graduate core program in geography, natural resources, engineering, planning, computer science, biology, geology, ecology or related field to include course work in geographic information systems (e.g., applications in geographic information systems, data input operations in geographic information & creation of digital spatial data bases);
& 12 mos. exp. or 12 mos. trg. in use of projections, coordinate systems & map algebra in operation of geographic information systems.

Option 5: An equivalent combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this role.
Helpful Skills and Experience:
While not required, strong candidates often have:
- Advance level proficiency using geospatial or mapping software (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Familiarity with military base planning, land use, or infrastructure project coordination
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript)
- Project or program management experience with a state, federal or regulated environment
- Knowledge of applicable state or federal land management regulations and environmental policy (e.g., NEPA)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Alignment with the Ohio National Guard's Warfighter Fundamentals, including personal accountability, teamwork, and mission execution.
