HOW A CYBER ARCHITECT/ENGINEER AND CLOUD SPECIALIST (SENIOR LEVEL/SME) WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Advise on security system infrastructure and provide network engineering and cloud knowledge to improve security architecture. Using AI to automate the allocation and scaling of cloud resources based on real-time demand. Leverage AI algorithms to analyze network traffic and user behavior to detect anomalies and potential security threats.
  • Develop and document cybersecurity solutions architecture to reduce the threat surface based on standardized methodologies and innovative analysis. During this development using AI algorithms to analyze massive volumes of data from various sources (network traffic, logs, user behavior) to identify anomalies and suspicious patterns indicative of cyber threats
  • Communicate conceptual architecture and capabilities to management.
  • Guide the design along with the implementation of secure solutions and services across business/IT support areas, driving the successful configuration and implementation of security solutions to reduce security risks.
  • Conduct training on topics related to the infrastructure/cloud security posture.
  • Support system and network/cloud-related security policy development including regulatory compliance.
  • Support change management processes to monitor cascading effects and to minimize unintended consequences
  • Conduct market research on the latest security best techniques, technology, and industry trends for networking and cloud. Using AI to pull/pool together data regarding the various vendors, applications, and summarized the top 4-5 vendors and technologies from which a USPS technical team can review and decide which is best for the USPS environment.
  • Providing analysis of outputs and recommendations for improving overall security posture for both networking and cloud environment. Working towards utilizing AI for monitors network traffic patterns to detect anomalies indicative of intrusions like DDoS attacks, lateral movement, or data exfiltration attempts. AI-driven intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS) analyze network data in real time, detecting unknown threats and zero-day exploits.
  • On-call availability for network impacting or network outage situations outside of business hours

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or other related fields. Or equivalent work experience.
  • NOTE: If resources do not have a relevant college degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of security architecture experience

  • 7+ years of Cloud architecture experience

  • 9+ years of cybersecurity experience

  • Knowledge of security standards and best practices, including but not limited to:

  • DISA STIGs,

  • NIST 800, Cybersecurity Framework

  • CIS Benchmarks

  • Experience with security architecture and cloud development.

  • Experience in cybersecurity technology solution planning, engineering, and deployment, including EDR/XDR, FW, NGIPS, SIEM, NDR.

  • Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure design requirements: Data center, Cloud (Azure, GCP, AWS, PaaS/IaaS/SaaS), Software defined networks/SASE, Trusted Internet Connections (TIC), Enterprise certificate authority/PKI operations, DNS/DHCP security, DDoS/WAF, Network access control, Wireless network security.

  • Ability to work well in a strong collaborative team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to effectively present technical information to many different levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills (written/spoken).

  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools: i.e., PowerPoint

  • Experience working with cloud security technologies of Microsoft, Google, or Amazon

  • Serving as a subject matter expert in the configuration and operation of the security consoles and controls within the Cloud environment

  • Experience deploying physical, virtual and cloud hosted enterprise applications on Windows and/or Linux

  • Knowledge and understanding of SDWAN/SSE design and security policies.

  • Knowledge and understanding of TLS traffic analysis and TLS intercept.

  • Experience with Security Operations Center (SOC) Processes

Security Clearance Level:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
  • This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

The likely salary range for this position is $166,280 - $224,968. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
