How can you make an impact?
Join McGraw-Hill Education (MHE) as a Senior Data Engineer within the Data and Analytics team and help transform business intelligence capabilities across financial, product, customer, user, and third-party domains. You'll play a hands-on role architecting and delivering scalable reporting and analytics solutions to support innovation in education.
This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. Candidates must be available to work during Eastern Time (ET) core hours.
What You'll Do:
Develop and deliver AWS-based data solutions with hands-on cloud engineering expertise
Build and manage big data pipelines using Databricks or similar Spark-based platforms
Design and implement parallel ETL processes to optimize resources and processing speed
Architect data models and modern data solutions including cloud technologies
Collaborate cross-functionally to translate business needs into technical requirements
Drive performance monitoring and reliability of the Data Platform
Lead the creation of technical specification design and end-to-end documentation
Ensure runbook SLA compliance and oversee daily cloud platform operations
Utilize tools like Git, Jira, and agile methodologies for project management
What You Bring:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in data engineering and cloud technologies
Proficiency in AWS services such as Lambda, EMR, Glue, and Athena with Iceberg
Advanced skills in SQL, Python scripting, and Terraform
Deep knowledge of data warehousing, data lake architecture, and version control
3+ years of hands-on experience using AWS for data technology solutions
Preferred Experience & Skills:
Experience in Publication or Education domains
Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or Alteryx
Background working with financial data (e.g., sales, revenue, COGS, manufacturing)
Exposure to IBM Planning Analytics (TM1)
Hands-on experience with Databricks
Familiarity with Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools
Experience working with data lakes, data warehouses, or cloud data platforms
Exposure to DevOps, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines

The pay range for this position is between $124,000- $155,000 USD annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
