Active Directory and Certificate Authority (CA) Infrastructure Engineer
FedTec is seeking a seasoned AD & CA Infrastructure Engineer to support, maintain, and modernize its enterprise Active Directory and Certificate Authority environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in Windows infrastructure, AD security best practices, and certificate lifecycle management
Location: Jefferson City, MO(Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for the Client's Active Directory and Certificate Authority
- Perform tasks such as password resets, account creation/deletion, group management, and DNS modifications.
- Diagnose and resolve certificate enrollment issues and issue new certificates as needed.
- Apply best practices for securing AD and CA environments, including multi-domain and multi-forest designs.
- Ensure compliance with IT security principles and hardening practices.
- Administer Windows Server environments, including LDAP, Kerberos, and related Windows systems.
- Design and maintain enterprise DNS architecture.
- Assist with upgrades, enhancements, and disaster recovery planning for AD and CA services.
- Address critical problems (e.g., system outages, security vulnerabilities) promptly.
- Utilize knowledge of DHCP, network routing, Exchange, switching, and TCP/IP addressing for troubleshooting.
- Work with VB and VBScript for automation and scripting tasks.
- Submit monthly status reports detailing tickets worked, meetings attended, and other assigned activities.
- Use the ITSD Status Report template for weekly updates, including project progress, risks, and action items.
- Complete the Project Deliverable Acceptance Form (PDAF) for deliverable approvals.
- Acknowledge ITSD communications within 6 business hours and respond to queries within 12 business hours.
- Attend meetings as directed by ITSD staff and collaborate with internal teams and vendors.
- Follow ITSD processes and use provided tools (e.g., Cherwell, ADO, or JIRA) for task management.
- Adhere to State of Missouri security policies, including data confidentiality and PII/PHI protection.
- Ensure all work is performed within the United States (offshore work is prohibited).
- Participate in required security trainings and comply with agency policies.
- Work up to 100% remotely while remaining available for consultations with ITSD staff.
- Be available for critical after-hours emergencies as defined by ITSD.
- Assist with architecture and design tasks to modernize AD and CA technologies.
- Validate data extraction processes and ensure backups are maintained per State requirements
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience architecting enterprise application solutions across on-premises and cloud infrastructure
- Proven expertise in Active Directory administration, design, and security.
- Experience managing and troubleshooting Microsoft Certificate Services.
- Strong understanding of DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Kerberos, and Windows Server infrastructure.
- Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP), routing, switching, and Microsoft Exchange integration.
- Knowledge of scripting using VB or VBScript.
- Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and document tasks clearly.
- Commitment to following established ITSD protocols and project tracking/reporting procedures.
