As a Sr. Embedded SW Engineer, you will collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to deliver software solutions for variety of customer products. You will design, implement, and verify software deliverables and utilize automated testing / delivery frameworks to ensure seamless interfacing to all customers.

You will dive into ambiguous problem spaces and meticulously distill out design choices, trade-offs, and priorities. You are data and metric driven, and obsessively concerned about performance in resource- constrained environments, while ensure the solutions are scalable and easy to be ported to new devices or new device categories. You love to share best practices, influence and align teams, and be a technical ambassador for software reuse across the wider Amazon organization.

Key job responsibilities
In this critical engineering role, you'll architect, develop, and optimize low-level Embedded Operating System components that form the foundation of current and future Lab126 products. As a key member of our OS team, you'll collaborate with team members and other cross-functional teams to deliver a robust OS that millions of customers depend on daily. Your contributions will directly impact product reliability, boot time, performance and maintainability.

A day in the life
As a Senior Embedded Software Development Engineer, you will:
- Understand and refine the scope of incoming projects
- Design and implement reliable, components and tools to improve the performance and stability for a variety of Amazon devices (e.g., Amazon Echo, FireTV) at a high-quality bar
- Experiment and prototype with novel technologies that improve the customer experience and solve business needs
- Work with internal and external engineering teams to understand and respond to their needs
- Organize and participate in collaborative Q&A sessions, workshops, presentations to share your technical know-how
- Mentor junior team members in career growth

As a Sr. Embedded Software Development Engineer, you will be working with a unique and gifted team developing exciting solutions for challenging problems, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
