Experis IT is partnered with the worlds leading provider of secure financial messaging services in their search for a Storage and Database Architect to join their team in Manassas, VA.

We are seeking an experienced Storage and Database Architect who will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of both relational and non-relational database systems. The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in Oracle RAC, Oracle Exadata Cloud Customer (ExaCC), Cassandra, and has extensive hands-on experience with cloud-based database solutions including managed databases, database-as-a-service (DBaaS), and cloud-native databases. This role is also responsible for designing, integrating, and governing scalable, high-performance data infrastructure that supports business-critical applications across hybrid environments.
Responsibilities:
Design high-performance, resilient data storage and database architectures for on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments.
Architect and design end-to-end solutions integrating storage platforms with relational and non-relational databases.
Partner with engineering, DevOps, and business teams to assess requirements and translate them into robust, scalable technical solutions.
Lead the evaluation and selection of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, object, cloud-based) aligned with data platform needs.
Provide governance and technical leadership in data availability, integrity, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on best practices in data management, storage optimization, and compliance (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA).
Develop and maintain architectural standards, reference models, and solution blueprints.
Contribute to capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost optimization across storage and database platforms.
Design cloud-compatible database architectures using Oracle RAC, Oracle ExaCC, Oracle GoldenGate, Cassandra, Amazon RDS, Azure Database, Google Cloud SQL, and other cloud-native database solutions.
Provide expertise in migrating, managing, and maintaining database solutions across cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Evaluate, recommend, and integrate new database technologies and strategies, including serverless databases, managed database services, and data warehousing solutions.
Ensure compliance with industry best practices related to data security, availability, performance, and disaster recovery across cloud and hybrid environments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze data needs, and provide strategic database solutions.
Evaluate and recommend the right backend storage technology and architecture to meet the IO needs of database and applications.
Mentor database administrators and developers to adopt best practices in database design, backup and recovery solutions, cloud integration, and management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in database architecture and administration.
Strong experience with Oracle RAC, Oracle ExaCC, Oracle GoldenGate and Apache Cassandra.
Proven expertise in designing and deploying relational and non-relational database solutions, including NoSQL databases.
Solid experience working with cloud infrastructure, specifically with managed database services such as OCI Autonomous Database, AWS Aurora, Azure Cosmos DB, and GCP Bigtable.
Excellent knowledge of database performance tuning, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery strategies in cloud environments.
Exposure to secret management tools such as Hashicorp and Oracle KeyVault.
Strong expertise in the area of SQL and NoSQL databases observability in cloud and hybrid environments.
Strong understanding of compliance standards such as CIS both for OS and databases.
Proven experience with enterprise storage systems (e.g. NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage) and database technologies (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their storage/database offerings (e.g. S3, RDS, Azure SQL).
Experience designing solutions with high availability, replication, and disaster recovery in mind.
Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
