We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Developer to join our team to take a significant role in the definition and development of mechanisms that directly influence how OCI understands, learns from, responds to, and eliminates the drivers of customer impacting incidents. You will provide technical and operational leadership within an organization of world-class engineering teams to measurably drive down the duration, size, recurrence, and cost of incidents at scale.

**Responsibilities**

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures, especially in areas of operational excellence and highly available systems. You will also provide leadership and expertise in the development of new services, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology, as well as mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to analyze and understand potential operational risks, translating insights into effective software solutions that enhance platform reliability and security.

2. Utilize your deep expertise in software development to design and implement algorithms, data models, and automated workflows in post incident management workflows.

3. Develop mechanisms to durably set, measure, and report on organizational priorities that meaningfully drive down the duration, size, recurrence, and cost of incidents at scale

4. Develop mechanisms to proactively identify and eliminate operational expectation violations, invariants, and anti-patterns broadly across OCI before they cause incidents.

5. Improve OCIs ability to control OPEX by illuminating time consuming operations that drain the productivity and quality of resources.

6. Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends, incorporating innovative software solutions into the development process to strengthen risk reduction strategies.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

2. 8-10 years relevant experience

3. Proven experience as a senior-level software developer with a focus on designing and implementing solutions for identifying and mitigating operational risks in cloud services.

4. Expertise in software architecture, design patterns, and scalable system development, with a deep understanding of distributed systems.

5. Proficient in Java with a focus on building full stack, robust, and scalable software solutions at cloud scale.

6. Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and experience developing software services addressing operational risks in cloud environments such as OCI, Azure, or AWS.

7. Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding and mentoring a team of developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

8. Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset for addressing operational challenges and mitigating potential risks through software solutions.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracles differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
